EURE, NC – Elsie Williams Brown, 88, a longtime resident of Eure, NC, and more recently of Apex, NC, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025 in UNC Rex Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center, Apex.
Mrs. Brown was born in Gates County on April 2, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Woodie Jackson Williams and Eddie Mae Greene Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Henry Brown, Sr., her son, Gilbert Brown, Jr. (wife, Debi, deceased), a son-in-law, Tim Newsome, two sisters, Margaret Whitley and Brenda Earley, and by a brother, Jimmy Williams.
A retired clerk from Taylor’s Pharmacy, she was a member of Cool Spring Baptist Church and its Adult Sunday School Class.
Surviving are her two daughters, Vanessa Newsome of McLeansville and Lori Overton (Victor) of Apex; a sister, Anne Pearce of Franklin, VA; four grandchildren, Sherwood Allen Overton (Maria), Christian Alexander Overton (Cheyanne), Kristie Campbell (Stephen), and Charlie Keith Pickard; two great-granddaughters, Victoria and Savannah; and other extended family members.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 5, at 1:00 p.m. in Cool Spring Baptist Church, and will be conducted by the Revs. Brandon Davis and Tommy Hayes. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the church social hall immediately following the services.
