GCHS earns medals at conference championships

HERTFORD – Gates County High School won seven individual and four team medals at the 2025 Four Rivers Conference Track and Field Championships held April 29 at Perquimans County High School.
In the girls side the conference event, Zebriya Woodley finished second the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 19.31 seconds.
The GCHS girls 4×100 meter relay team finished second with a time of 54.63 seconds. The 4×800 meter relay team placed third with a time of 15:25.74 minutes.
Two members of the GCHS boys team won first place medals. Jy’shire Watford won the 200 meter dash, covering the distance in 22.98 seconds. Chris Lee captured the 400 meter dash title with an effort of 52.26 seconds. Teammate Clinton Mizelle also medaled in that event, placing third (54.47 seconds).

Anthony Hart placed third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.41 seconds.
Isaac Shafer finished third in the 3200 meter run, posting a time of 13:55.79 minutes.
In the long jump, Jaybrion Wiggins placed third with a leap of 20-1.5 inches.
In the boys relay events, Gates County’s 4×100 meter (44.82 seconds) and 4×200 meter (1:34.13 minutes) teams each captured second place.
