FUQUAY-VARINA – The North Carolina Auctioneer Licensing Board was created by the N.C. General Assembly in 1973. During its November 12, 2024 Board of Directors meeting, the NCALB was pleased to honor 19 Auctioneers and one Auction Firm that have been actively licensed for the past 50 years.
Included among the honorees is William H. Peele of Corapeake. He holds NC Auctioneer License #134.
Others honored were Algier A. Harris of Norwood, Kenneth W. Teague, Jr. of Graham, Lloyd Meekins, Jr. of Lumberton, Horace B. York, Jr. of Clemmons, Ricky L. Hill of Lexington, George A. Daniel of Gasburg, VA, Edwin D. Ellis of Spindale, W. Terry Ireland of Mooresville, Frank H. Godley of Charlotte, Terry C. Blevins of Statesville, Boy M. Dixon of Sparta, Fred O. Ellis of Cooleemee, Daniel W. Brewer, Jr. of Madison, L. Gregg Goins of Dunn, William B. Lilly of Norwood, Howell D. Penland of Candler, Tony R. Stone of Bailey, Joseph R. Henderson of Vale, and Goldsboro Auction Co. (trading as Dick Smith Equipment).
Nine of the honorees (and their guests) were able to attend the celebration event in Fuquay-Varina and received commemorative plaques in-person.
“Auctioneers serve as fiduciaries, and they are entrusted with people’s property and the proceeds from the sale of that property,” said NCALB Chairman Daniel H. DeVane. “The licensing system provides an important layer of protection for consumers. This Board is proud to celebrate this fine group of honorees, and we sincerely thank each one for their long-standing service in the auction industry.”
