GATESVILLE – Back-to-back!
The Gates County High School Red Barons soccer team recently finished the season champions of the Four Rivers Conference for the second consecutive year.
Behind the leadership of senior co-captain’s Logan Kronbauer and Mark Sencia, the Red Barons completed conference play with a 7-0-1 record.
Leading the way offensively in goals scored were: Jefferson Molina (13), Robbie Nicholson (10) Jacob Collins (7), Claire Jones (3), Benjamin Ross (2), Benjamin Garretson (2) and JT Riddick (1).
The goalie duo of Brayden Wolford and Logan Kronbauer were able to hold their opponents to a low number of goals throughout the conference season with the defensive help of Dylan Rushin, Jackson Nicholson and Grayson Bowdoin.
Due to not enough interest in girls signing up to play soccer, GCHS girls have had to play on the boy’s team over the years.
This will be the Red Barons last season competing in the Four Rivers 1A Conference as the North Carolina High School Athletic Association will be realigning all the conferences in the next few months.
