Gates County is blessed to have many men and women who are the first to rush to the aid of those in need.

For that reason, Gates County Farm Bureau has launched its First Responder of the Month program. The program will recognize a first responder every month and Gates County Farm Bureau will give them a $25 gift card.
The First Responder of the Month for September is Keith Modlin of the Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department.
Modlin is a true hero for his community and the Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department. He has dedicated countless hours as a volunteer firefighter, with many years serving as Captain and Secretary, 13 years as Chief, and now Co-Treasurer of Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department.
2024 marks 40 years of Keith’s commitment to his community and the fire service. His good nature, practical sense, and willingness to help others have made a lasting mark on the department.
Gates County Farm Bureau salutes Keith Modlin for all his hard work and all he does to make his community a safe place to live.
