Dog Festival set for April 13

HERTFORD – The second annual Dog Festival is scheduled for 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 at the Perquimans County Recreation Department (301 South Granby Street, Hertford, NC).

The event serves as a fundraiser for SPCA of Elizabeth City, Tri-County Animal Shelter, and AWARE (Animal Welfare of the Albemarle Region Everyday). Donations will also be accepted for the Bertie County Animal Shelter in Windsor.

Admission to the festival is $5 per person (cash only). Children under age 6 are admitted free.

The event will feature vendors, food, a dog house building contest, auction, 50/50 raffle, photos with your dog, paw painting, dog bone toss, face painting, music, and drawings for prizes.

Featured contests include Who Looks the Most Like Their Pet, Dress Up Your Dog, Best Rescue Dog (share your story), Tiny Dog Race (weight limit is 15 pounds), Dog’s Got Talent, Longest Ears, Longest Tail, Saddest Smile, Tallest Dog, Smallest Dog, and Best Behaved on Commands and Tricks).

SPCA dogs will be offered for adoption.
