CORAPEAKE – Glenn Rawls Wiggins, 84, died Thursday, February 22, 2024, in Lake Prince Woods Health Care Unit, Suffolk, VA.

Mr. Wiggins was a lifelong resident of Gates County, born on May 5, 1939, and was the son of the late Forrest Glenn and Helene Stallings Wiggins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death in July 2004 by his first wife, Mary Virginia Brinkley Wiggins.

A retired Bleach Plant Operator with Union Camp Corp. in Franklin, VA where he worked for more than 40 years, his other life’s work was farming, where he tended the crops when not on his shift work at the paper mill. He was a faithful member of Eureka Baptist Church, its Men’s Sunday School Class, the Building and Grounds Committee, and the Board of Deacons. Other enjoyments included his love of hunting and the friendships established in the Community Hunt Club. Mr. Wiggins was an Army veteran, and proud of his service to his country.

Surviving is his wife of more than 17 years, Margie Harrell Wiggins; his daughter, Stephanie Wiggins Harrell (husband, Taylor), and Margie’s daughter, Beverly Ann Bartholomew (husband, Stan), both of Suffolk. Together Margie and Glenn shared four grandchildren, Logan and Mason Harrell, and Tucker and Isabella Bartholomew. Also surviving are his sister, June Wiggins Rice (husband, Charles) of Suffolk; his brother, Jimmy Wiggins (wife, Linda) of Hobbsville; his sister-in-law, Carolyn Brinkley of Rocky Mount; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Funeral services were held Sunday, February 25, 2024 in Eureka Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. David Lawson and Cameron Currin. The burial was private in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the residence.
