Farewell Mr. Boone

Just this past week, we said our goodbyes to Mr. Graylen Boone.

A very dedicated, enthusiastic, hard working, and adventurous science teacher, he taught at GCHS for 10 years, and also coached basketball. [Mr. Boone will be back to coach football this fall.]

He has gone above and beyond to support our students and athletes to ensure their safety and success. Thank you for all that you’ve done for GCHS Mr. Boone. You will always be a Baron.

For all who want to try out for the spring sports make sure your RankOne is up to date, you have a recent physical, your grades are in check, and that you are eligible. For track tryouts, make sure you bring good workout gear and water. Make sure you are hydrated for all tryouts and sports!!

Mrs. L. Perry said she is “excited for the upcoming season and for the new track at Perquimins.” She is also optimistic about going to state again this year. Everyone is buzzing with excitement for the upcoming games and meets.

FFA Week

Have you ever heard of the FFA? FFA stands for Future Farmers of America, however it is not limited to just farming. FFA Week is the third week in February. It is a week dedicated to our agriculture department and to spread the word about FFA.

Although farming is a major part of the FFA it also includes horticulture, forestry, and mechanics. GCHS has won several awards for tool identification, agricultural mechanics, creed speaking, and livestock judging over the years.

FFA is a great way to learn communication skills and leadership skills

You can join the FFA and participate in competitions by paying the dues and it is required that you are enrolled in an agriculture class.
