Lady Barons win again

WILLIAMSTON – London Barber, Kyndall Banks, and Semiyah Saunders each scored in double figures here last week where the Gates County High School varsity girls defeated Martin County, 71-51, in Four Rivers Conference action.

It was the fourth consecutive win by the Lady Barons, who improved to 16-4 overall and 6-2 in the conference.

Barber and Banks shared the top scoring honors, each with 17 points. Saunders added 15 points.

Barber and Saunders also posted double-digit rebounds with 14 and 12 respectively.

Banks added 10 steals, seven rebounds, and six assists.

Rounding out the GCHS scoring were Zariah Rogers (7 points), Semayia Cross (5), Ny’Ashia Perry (4), Camiya Riddick (4), and Zebriya Woodley (2).

Gates County will close out their regular season with two conference games on the road: Feb. 12 at Washington County, and Feb. 15 at Tarboro.
