The Eastern North Carolina Civic Group is the oldest civic and service network in eastern North Carolina and Sears has served as an officer of that organization for 20 of the 30 years he has been involved.

“James’ selflessness and unwavering commitment to eastern North Carolina do not go unnoticed,” stated Congressman Davis. “His actions serve as a powerful testament to the significant difference one can make when fueled by a passion for improving our community.”

Sears served as First Vice-Chair and has been a member of Eastern North Carolina Civic Group since its inception. He was one of three members honored for their combined 44 years of service to eastern North Carolina.
