Local instructor Kenny Buffaloe recently held a Kyokushin Karate Summer Camp, teaching skills to students enrolled at Gatesville Elementary, TS Cooper Elementary, and Buckland Elementary.

Buffaloe taught students the basics of Kyokushin Karate, conditioning and fun exercises, and self-defense techniques for anti bullying.

In addition, Buffaloe shared with students the importance of respecting parents, teachers, and authority figures, a core philosophy in Kyokushin Karate.

Gates County students really enjoyed the camps and are looking forward to it again next year.

Buffaloe is the official North Carolina Representative of the International Kyokushin Karate Organization in Japan. He is a two time recipient of the state’s “Governor’s Award” for professional excellence and bringing Kyokushin Karate to North Carolina in 1980.

Buffaloe teaches training classes in four towns, including at VINFIT in Murfreesboro on Tuesdays.
