GATES, NC – Nettie Jean Taylor Salisbury, 88, of 35 Northeast Drive, Gates, NC, and formerly of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022 in her home.

Mrs. Salisbury was born in Clay County, WV on September 14, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Vida Johnson Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Salisbury; sisters, Ora Hamrick, Genevieve Selbe, Hester McKinney, Hettie Jarvis, Ruth Barnett, and Alice Adkins; and by brothers, Dennis and Kenneth Taylor.

A homemaker, she was a member of Reynoldson Baptist Church, and had formerly been active with the Princess Anne Lions Club for several years. Other enjoyments included her love of flowers and working in her garden.

Surviving are her three daughters, Reba Midgett (Jeff) and Rhonda Drennan (Pete), both of Virginia Beach, and Lynn Marie Hickey (Bryan) of Gates; two sons, Terry Salisbury (Patty) of Virginia Beach, and Stanley Salisbury (Theresa) of Gates; a sister, Helen Atkinson of Warren, OH; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Midgett (Erica), Kelly Ann Northcott (Marty), Kathryn Gullo (Brian) Dawn Burke (Patrick), Curtis Salisbury (Lori), Kirby Drennan (Autumn), Richard Rison, Jr. and Benjamin Rison; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 4, at 5:00 p.m. in Reynoldson Baptist Church and will be conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Cody Brinkley. Friends may visit with the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the service on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to any chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
