Open House

Open house for the parents of all students was held Monday before last and there was a great turnout. It took place Monday, September the 19th from 5 to 7 p.m.

Open house was an opportunity for new parents to meet all the teachers and new teachers to meet all the parents and other people in the community. The parking lot was full of parents talking and walking into the school all night and by the end of the night everyone was well acquainted with each other.

On August 14, the Gates County High Schools NNDCC (Navy National Defense Cadet Corps) program was given the opportunity to present colors on national television, at the Federated Auto Parts 400.

The color guard detail included the following cadets: Cadet Ensign Erin Mathews with a rifle; Cadet Petty Officer First Class Shalamar Boyce carrying the American flag; Cadet Lieutenant Junior Grade Ciara White carrying the U.S. Army flag; Cadet Petty Officer Third Class Shyanne Carlisle carrying the U. S. Marine Corps flag; Cadet Ensign Zamaria Kinsey carrying the U.S. Navy flag; and Cadet Petty Officer Second Class Kaelyn Shaw with a rifle.

The cadets were also given an invitation to preform colors at the Talladega Speedway, in Talladega, Alabama, on national television.
