HOBBSVILLE, NC – Dorothy Hobbs Hendrix, 97, of 732 Hobbsville Road, died Friday, September 16, 2022 in her home.

Mrs. Hendrix was born in Gates County and was the daughter of the late Junius Alfred and Lille Mae White Hobbs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in January 2008, Robert John Hendrix, Jr.; by her son, Andy Robert Hendrix; by her sister, Doris Stallings; and by brothers, Weldon and James Hobbs.

A graduate of Hobbsville High School where she played on the girls basketball team, she married on September 10, 1944 at the age of 19, and spent her life as a homemaker, farmer’s wife, and mother. A longtime member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church, she raised chickens, worked in her flowers, and enjoyed her family.

Surviving is her daughter, Cindy Hendrix Knight (husband, R.V. III); her daughter-in-law, Diane R. Hendrix of Eure; her sister, Juanita Simmons of Coral Springs, Florida; four grandchildren, Amber Hendrix, Ryan Hendrix (fiancé, Zoey Perkins), Christopher Knight (wife, Rebecca) and Matthew Knight (wife, Becky); and a great-grandson, Tyler Knight.

A graveside service was held Tuesday, September 20 in the Sandy Cross Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by Chaplain Scott Taylor of Albemarle Hospice.

Friends may visit with the family at the residence.
